WA State Nomination
The Western Australia State Government has released the details of state nomination migration requirements on 9th December 2019.
AEMS has organized useful information into the following charts.
For the two years study requirement, higher education, VET or even ELICOS study would be counted as qualified.
For graduates, WA state nomination only requires 6 months working experience or a 6 month job offer/contract.
70 new occupations have been added to the Graduate occupation list.
154 occupations have been removed from the Graduate occupation list.
Regional Occupation list is included as well.
The applicants must study in WA.
Q&A
AEMS has gathered some questions which have been raised by customers recently, we would like to share it here with everyone.
The answer is yes. For applicants to apply the graduate stream they must study in WA for at least 2 years
The 2 years study would be any Certificate III level of VETor above or higher education, even ELICOS would be counted as well.
For those who studied in WA, even it is a long time ago, they will be still considered as eligible.
According to the regulation, they must have a minimum 6 month working experience in the past 5 years, which means it could be anywhere in Australia, but must be highly rated to the nominated occupation.
For instance, graduated in WA, while working in Melbourne with a highly related occupation, after 6 months can I apply for the WA state nomination?
The answer is affirmative!
But one important thing is once the WA state nomination is granted, the applicant must work and live in WA.
Every year the WA state government will check the occupation list and adjust it, so it probably be renewed at the end of next year.
The most hurtful changes of the occupation list is many popular occupations have been removed, such as Marketing Specialist, Engineer Technologist etc.
However, the added occupations are mainly about the VET graduates such as , Chef, Restaurant manager and so on.
About this question, it is hard to provide a direct answer.
For applicants who would like to apply occupations on ANZSCO Major Occupation Group 1 or Group 2, then they must meet the English proficient level, which means four 7s on IELTS.
While, for other applicants they must have competent level of English, which means four 6s on IELTS.
For those who have the passport of UK, Canada, New Zealand or USA they are exempt from this.
The answer is affirmative.
As Perth is reclassified as regional area, so the whole WA is eligible for 491 visa!
In other words, if you have difficulty to apply for 190 visa in WA, then you could try 491, in addition, 491 would provide an extra 15 points while 190 would only provide extra 5 points.
The reason is simple, for the 491 occupation list provided by DHA is a guideline, each state could adjust the list based on their needs. That is the reason why some occupation is not in the list, such as cook.
