Theflow chart displays the life cycle of salmon fish which is divided into two different kinds of living environment.

The first period includes its life in fresh water. The fish life begins from an upstreamof a river, where the water flows slowly. The salmon eggs are laid on the river bed where there are many small stones and plants like reeds. This stage lasts for about half a year when these eggs are hatched and grow into fry fish whose size is between 3 and 5 centimeters.

When the fry grows strong enough, it swims downstream,where the water moves faster. The fish will live there for approximately 4 years, when they turn into smolt age. At the stage, their length is as longas 15 centimeters.

These smolt fish begin to leave the fresh water and swim towards open sea or ocean,where they will stay for about five years and become mature. The size of the adult salmon will be as long as about 76 centimeters.

Overall,the salmon fish live in the fresh water and salty water. The time they live in these two waters is almost equal,but the adult fish are five times as young fish in size.
