Meant vt. = represent: What does it mean? - It means that...
Mean to do something: You do it quite deliberately and knowing what the effects or implications will be.
Something is meant for something: it is designed or made for use in a particular situation - These building techniques were meant for soft sand.
Something is meant to happen: it is very strongly expected to happen - Are parents meant to love all their children equally?
Means(both singular and plural): method/instrument or process which makes it possible
