About the Role


Goldfield Group is an integrated residential development and domestic building business with a focus on townhouse and low / mid-rise apartment projects on infill sites in and around Melbourne. We are currently recruiting for a highly motivated Project Manager who has strong capabilities and experience in residential development construction and project delivery to join our team. Skills and Experience


Coming from a professional background in Building / Civil or Structural Engineering / Architecture and with qualifications in Project / Construction Management the successful candidate must possess:

  • A solid track record of 5 or more years  in domestic and commercial building and civil subdivisional construction works for residential development;

  • Sound knowledge and understanding of and ability to interpret building contracts, drawings, project plans and programs and relevant Planning and Building Regulations;

  • An ability to liaise and provide guidance of site staff and construction contractors on a day to day basis;

  • Capabilities and assurance in chairing construction site meetings to manage and monitor tasks on the meeting minutes to be delivered on time

  • Aptitude to coordinate and  manage design consultants throughout the Design Development  and Construction stages including convening and chairing meetings as required to resolve construction issues expeditiously;

  • An ability to liaise and negotiate outcomes with Authorities, contractors and other stakeholders to meet project outcomes;

  • Preparedness to take ownership of responsibilities and challenges in achieving project outcomes;

    Intuitiveness in working to broad direction with excellent problem solving, thorough analysis and forward thinking characteristics

  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills and responsiveness in reporting to management;

  • Solid IT skills in Office Suite and capability in MS Project with feasibility programs and CAD software highly regarded

  • Ability to work independently and diligently with attention to detail and standards of quality.


Duties and Responsibilities


Reporting to the Senior Project Manager the successful candidate will be required to:

  • Manage construction delivery of multiple projects to defined budget, program and quality parameters and ensure that works are designed and undertaken cost effectively;

  • Ensure works are carried out efficiently while maintaining compliance to all applicable statutory requirements;

  • Assess payment claims and verify performance of contractors and consultants as required;

  • Manage effectively the integration of site preparation & site remediation works;

  • Provide informed advice and recommendations regarding any proposed alternative methodologies and substitutions suggested by contractors;

  • Coordinate and facilitate Buildability and Value Management Reviews with consultant teams and contractor as required;

  • Ensure that RFI's and approval submissions are responded to in a timely manner;

  • Be capable of undertaking Contract Administration duties for multiple projects;

  • Assist in managing the process of titling, settlements and handovers to purchasers ensuring that Contract of Sale obligations are met.


Strong capabilities in construction and design management will be looked upon favourably with abilities to:

  • Facilitate the preparation of project design briefs and the selection, recommendation for appointment and supervision of design consultants;

  • Ensure designs are suitably documented for the purposes of permit submissions and that design aspects of all authority parameters are clearly understood;

  • Ensue that outcomes are achieved through project design reviews involving internal project team members and key consultants;

  • Ensure designs are developed, coordinated and documented across all consultant disciplines in accordance with program and commercial and quality expectations;

  • Manage design coordination and design consistency of civil, landscape designs and built form designs;

  • Regularly review construction  works and resolve discrepancies or ambiguities in design documentation and construction materials or techniques;

  • Work in consultation with management and project teams to prepare and document design briefs and develop design standards, typical details and specifications for application across projects.
