Hi everyone, This has been a very difficult start to the year for many in the RMIT community and, as your Vice-Chancellor, I would like to let you know personally that we are here to support you. I understand you may be feeling incredibly unsettled. Let me first explain the current situation. Travel restrictions On February 1st, the Australian Government announced that no one travelling from mainland China (excluding Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan) would be allowed to enter Australia unless they are Australian citizens, permanent residents or immediate family members (spouses, legal guardians or dependents). This restriction is expected to be reviewed after 14 days. RMIT advice Based on Australian Government advice, we are asking those who have: Been in mainland China on or after February 1st 2020 (excluding Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan), not to attend campus for 14 days after you were last in mainland China. This applies only to those who were in mainland China on or after 1 February 2020 Recently travelled through Hubei Province (which includes Wuhan City), not to attend campus for 14 days from your date of arrival in to Australia Been in close contact with a person who has a confirmed case of coronavirus, not to attend campus for 14 days from your last contact with them Been in direct, extended contact with people who have travelled through Hubei Province, to please contact RMIT (+61 3 9925 5005) before coming to campus.
Getting you started As you are due to commence your studies soon, we will have options to share as soon as we can. These may include delayed start date, intensive learning, online delivery or catch-up classes.
I assure you we are working on solutions that will allow you to commence as quickly as possible and not be disadvantaged. We will be in contact with you soon. In the meantime, please let us know how to best stay in contact with you at this time, by completing this form.
