从上周四开始的每一天，澳大利亚每一个州的机场都在“有条不紊”地进行着罢工：
悉尼国际机场早上5点到下午1点，
墨尔本国际机场早上4点到中午12点，
布里斯班国际机场早上5点到下午1点，
帕斯国际机场凌晨3点到上午11点，
阿德莱德国际机场早上5点到下午1点。
终于，政府方面和劳动管理局叫停了他们的罢工行动，原因是：国家边境管理工作人员罢工将对国家安全产生极大影响，而这都是因为12天以前在比利时布鲁塞尔国际机场发生了自杀性恐怖袭击事件，爆炸造成32人死亡，270人受伤。
Fair Work是澳大利亚的劳工保护组织，组织罢工的工会在上周五4月1日向Fair Work递交了文书，针对两年来共12万联邦政府员工不平等工资问题提出了公诉，现任总理特恩布尔也终于同意将对此进行谈判。
在布鲁塞尔爆炸案之后，工会立即停止了罢工。本来计划的罢工是横跨整个复活节假期的，但由于这起恐怖事件在全球引起了极大的影响，IS组织也公布了下一个恐怖袭击目标，澳大利亚也一直在目标列表中，所以工会尊重总理特恩布尔对于国家安全的顾虑，在复活节期间停止了罢工。但是，在恐怖袭击事件稍微平息了一些之后，罢工在上周四3月31日恢复进行，并且把原计划的罢工时间延长到了4月7日。
工会发言人表示：
“Our members are absolutely committed to the safety of our community and Australia’s national security. That’s why weagreed to the Prime Minister’s request to suspend our long-planned Easter strike action because of community anxiety over the Brussels attacks occurring just a day before these.”
工会的每一个人都对澳大利亚安全问题非常的重视，我们尊重总理特恩布尔的意见，我们也尊重布鲁塞尔爆炸案死去的人们，所以我们立刻停止了在复活节期间的罢工。
特恩布尔在接受媒体采访时回应：
"We strongly encourage them to rethink their call for industrial action and stay at work and pursue their complaints, their disagreements with the government through other means. I've been given anassurance by the AFP Commissioner that security will be consistent andsustained and consistent with what it always is at the airports."
联邦政府希望边境工作人员能够慎重考虑罢工对国家安全造成的影响，即便有怨言也希望能够在这个危急时刻坚守在工作岗位上。我已经向澳大利亚联邦警署递交了保证，国家安全将一直摆在首位，机场边境管理将一直保持警惕状态。
现在，罢工行动还只是暂时停止，按照原计划应该是会持续到4月7日，在和联邦政府谈判没有结果之前，罢工行动有可能将无限期延长。澳大利亚现在将国家安全等级列为第三级Probable（共五级），全球对于IS恐怖组织的抓捕行动也还在进行时，因为国家安全程度降低才对罢工事件加以重视，其实这样的理由确实难以接受，只是希望澳洲联邦政府可以和工会达成一致，在非常时期快点结束人心惶惶的“空城计”。
