Some people believe living in a big city is bad for their health. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
The increasing number of people moving to the city has forced us to consider the widespread ramifications of such practice, particularly on our health. Living in the city negatively impacts your health not only because air quality is significantly lower in larger cities, but it is also harder to get enough exercise.
Large cities often are quite polluted and as a result, this can negatively affect your well-being. As central business districts often have a high concentration of people, the traffic is also quite dense, which results in the accumulation of large amounts of car exhaust. This isdetrimental to air quality and as people have to breathe this polluted air their health consequently suffers.
Health levels also tend to decline in the city because it is generally harder to exercise. Many people living outside the city often go to parks or use the suburban streets to jog and exercise, however, this is infeasible in the city as there are fewer parks available and side-walks are too crowded to jog on. As it is more inconvenient to exercise in the city, many people forgo this necessity and their fitness level decline which leads to a decline in health.
Although many people have begun to move to the big cities for various reasons, we mustbe wary of the accompanying largely negative effects on health and well-being. Unless steps are taken to mitigate these effects, living in the city will be largely detrimental to our health.
