In Australia Daylight Saving Time or Summer Time is used in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria. During Daylight Saving Time turn your clocks ahead one hour. At the end of Daylight Saving Time turn your clocks back one hour.
Australia daylight saving time begins on the first Sunday in October at 2 AM Eastern Standard Time and ends on the first Sunday in April at 2 AM Eastern Standard Time (3 AM Daylight Saving Time).
Daylight Saving Time is not used in the Northern Territory, Queensland and Western Australia.
Western Australia used Daylight Saving Time is in a trial period which began on 3 December, 2006, however, in May 2009 a referendum was held in Western Australia and voters rejected the continued use of daylight saving time.
In most of Australia the Daylight Saving Time period is referred to as "Summer Time." The names in each time zone change along with Daylight Saving Time. As an example:
Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) becomes Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT)
Australian Central Standard Time (ACST) becomes Australian Central Daylight Time (ACDT)
