参考答案1:
This timeline illustrates how the Earth has changed over the past 225 million years. As we can see from the diagram, in the Permian Period, the Earth’s landmass was continent in a single continent called Pangaea. 25 million years later, in the Triassic period, Pangaea had split into two continents; Laurasia, to the north of the equator, and Gondwanaland to the south; separated by the Tethys Sea. This change continued to occur throughout the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, to the present day, where we now have six distinct continents.
参考答案2:
The map gives information about the geographic change of Pangaea and the more recent continent movements. As we can see, the Pangea continent existed 225 million years ago and it was once the Pangaea supercontinent, which is the assembly of most continental blocks on earth. About 200 million years ago, Laurasia and Gondwanaland formed the two separate continents with Tethys Sea in the middle. Since then, the continents subsequently fragmented during Jurassic and Cretaceous period, and the pieces now accounted for earth’s current seven distinct continents.
