Australian Sovereign College is seeking applications for the position of Trainer and Assessor for Diploma in Community Services.
Status: Casual
Location: Hobart
Reporting to: CEO
Relationship: Internal RTO management, staff and contractors; External Customers, Suppliers, Industry Associations, Government, Local employers and schools.
Remuneration: Wages will be negotiated commensurate with experience and qualifications. Includes access to salary packaging provisions. Superannuation is paid at the Superannuation guarantee rate.
Compliance: Working with Children Check, National Police Check, Proof of legal entitlement to work in Australia (if applicable)
Position Objective
The primary responsibility of the Trainer/Assessor is to develop, prepare, deliver, assess and evaluate qualifications whilst ensuring that contractual and compliance requirements for the delivery of programs are met in accordance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Deliver structured, flexible, relevant and interesting training sessions and assist all learners regardless of level to achieve their training goals.
• Ensure all training resources are current and are compliant and used in accordance with the requirements as detailed in Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.
• Use teaching and assessment strategies that are fair, valid, current and sufficient.
• Develop, implement, and maintain training plans to meet the individuals learning style and level of skills and knowledge.
• Develop and maintain employment, education and further training networks.
• Prepare for, conduct and document both training delivery and assessment procedures, using approved training delivery plans and participate in validation sessions as required.
• Complete and maintain all training records accurately, document assessment results and submit to the appropriate Manager upon assessment for input into student management system.
• Evaluate the training program, retaining written feedback for review and discussion with the appropriate Manager.
• In conjunction with the appropriate Manager, resolve any complaints or incidents in accordance with company grievance procedures, documenting incidents and outcomes.
• Participate in moderation/validation sessions as required.
• Report to and inform the appropriate Manager in regard to student welfare, student attendance and course progress.
• Participate in internal and external contractual audits required by the Federal and State Training Authorities and undertake follow up actions as required with the appropriate Manager.
• Keep abreast of rules and regulations and accreditation procedures for the appropriate industry.
• Maintain currency of qualifications and relevant industry experience
Key Result Areas
Training & Assessment
• Participate in and contribute to validation and moderation.
• Support students to complete their courses as per their Training Plans and course schedules.
• Develop and deliver courses in accordance with Training Packages and industry requirements.
• Ensure students and employers satisfaction benchmarks are met or exceeded.
Administration
• Maintain accurate student and course records, and complete all required reporting.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of the Training department and wider organisation.
Compliance
• Participate in validation, internal and external audits.
Safe and Healthy Workplace / Environmental Responsibility
• Contribute to ensuring a safe working environment for co-workers and visitors;
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve environmental responsibility.
Selection Criteria
• Ability to develop VET training programs aligned to NVR qualifications.
• Possess a high level of organisational and time management skills.
• Possess high level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to resolve conflict situations.
• Strong computer literacy skills, including the Microsoft suite of products and database applications.
• Extensive knowledge and experience in delivering VET programs
• Demonstrated experience in working within the specified vocational area and within a training environment/context
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is essential or equivalent, and relevant Industry Qualification and experience.
• Industry qualifications at Diploma level or higher
