Trade and Investment Queensland China is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our Shanghai team.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Conduct high level research and analysis to develop clear, concise reports relating to trade and investment related trends, challenges and opportunities.

  • Provide accurate and timely market intelligence and strategic advice to the Commissioner, Queensland government departments and Queensland companies about developments in the economy.

  • Identify, investigate and evaluate opportunities and strategic business alliances that are in line with TIQ’s strategic plan.

  • Collate and analyse relevant background information regarding clients, products/services and market sectors, including the design of presentations and supporting documentation.

  • Manage specific project-based work, including the development of project plans, identification of resources, coordination and evaluation.

  • Manage and maintain social media for the TIQ China office including content in Chinese (Mandarin) language.

  • Assist with the management of Ministerial visits and trade missions, as directed by the Commissioner, to include visit programs and accompanying official and business delegations.

  • Work closely with and support Queensland businesses, suppliers, educational institutions, training providers and other organisations that are looking for buyers, partners, investors or allies.

  • Work closely with the TIQ global network and Queensland stakeholders, including Brisbane and Queensland regional office staff, to co-ordinate joint trade promotional activities, business missions and client support.

This role may require additional duties to be completed as directed.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with Chinese and international networks.

  • Demonstrates clear and concise, cross-cultural written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrates commitment to own development and continuous self-improvement, and sees learning opportunities in everyday work.

Fluency in written and spoken English is essential and high-level Chinese (Mandarin) language is desirable.

Practical experience in international business and/or qualifications in international business or a related discipline will be well regarded.
