What is the Australia-China Emerging Leaders’ Summit (ACELS)?

ACELS is the signature initiative of the Australia-China Youth Association (ACYA), designed to unite and enrich a new generation of Australia-China literate leaders. Held biannually in both Australia and China, the Summit delivers an intensive program of professional development, fostering a deeper understanding of the region and genuine people-to-people connections.

Through interacting with one another and industry leaders at the forefront of their fields, delegates contribute to meaningful and productive cross-cultural dialogue, and gain knowledge and experiences beneficial to their future academic and professional endeavours. Delegates leave the Summit having discussed and gained insight into a broad range of topics concerning the Australia-China relationship, and are equipped to become active young leaders in the space.

中澳青年领袖发展峰会是什么？

中澳青年领袖发展峰会是中澳青年联合会的旗舰活动，是以促进中澳青年交流，培养新一代的中澳领袖为目标的交流盛会。峰会每年在中国和澳大利亚各举办一次，峰会不但是与会代表进一步提升自身职业发展的绝佳机会，并且为中澳青年领袖深入了解中澳关系，与其他对促进中澳关系同样富有热情的领袖进行联结，培养青年领袖间的长远友谊提供了平台。通过与其他与会代表和杰出的行业领袖交流，与会代表们将在峰会上展开具有多元价值及意义的跨文化对话，并且可以积累有助于未来的事业与学术发展的知识和经验。在本届峰会里，与会代表们会讨论和深入了解关于中澳关系的各种话题，并获得成为未来活跃青年领袖的领导能力。

Why attend ACELS 10 Guangzhou?

In celebration of the 10th Summit, ACELS  will be held in Southern China for the first time, in the nation’s busiest trade centre - Guangzhou!

Located in the Pearl River Delta Metropolitan Region, Guangzhou sits in one of the world’s most economically prosperous regions, and is internationally renowned as a thriving port city and a hub of technology and innovation. Successful delegates will be immersed in their vibrant surrounds, getting to experience both the rich history and entrepreneurial spirit of Guangdong’s capital.

Moreover, ACELS 10 Guangzhou will be the biggest summit yet! Held from 16th-19th January 2020* the Summit will bring together 90 delegates passionate about the Australia-China space for four days of presentations, workshops and seminars, who will grow in their understanding of the multifaceted bilateral relationship, and leave ready to make a difference!

And, if you’re not convinced already - there will be ample chances to sample some delicious Cantonese cuisine!

为迎接第十届中澳青年领袖发展峰会，本次峰会将在中国南方最繁忙的贸易中心广州举行。

广州位于珠三角地区，且是世界上经济最繁荣地区之一，是在国际上享有盛誉的港口城市和科技与创新中心。值此峰会期间，与会代表们有机会沉浸在广州充满活力的环境中，体验广东首府的悠久历史和享誉全国的企业家精神。

Who attends ACELS?

Strength lies in diversity, and with this in mind, ACELS seeks to represent a wide range of academic, professional, social and geographical backgrounds within its delegates cohorts.

Delegates will be between the ages of 18 and 30, and either a student in tertiary education or a young professional. Most importantly, however, they demonstrate a keen interest in the Australia-China relationship, and enthusiasm to gain experience and learn more! Previous involvement with ACYA is not a prerequisite to attend ACELS 10 Guangzhou, so why not use the Summit as a platform to enter and immerse yourself into the Australia-China space?

Beyond your inspiring peers, successful ACELS delegates can also look forward to interacting with and learning from prominent figures in the Australia-China space. Past ACELS panellists have included the Hon. Colin Barnett, former premier of Western Australia, Hamish Curry, Executive of the Asia Education Foundation at Asialink, and Wendy Min, Senior PR Manager at Ctrip.com.

What kind of topics will be discussed at ACELS?

With 2019 rapidly drawing to a close, ACELS 10 Guangzhou looks directly into the future, and will centre around the theme 2020 VIsion: Ushering in a New Decade of Australia-China Relations.

Adopting an innovative, forward-thinking lens (much like the spirit of the host city!), ACELS events will cover a broad spectrum of topics, whether it be a panel discussion on arts and culture, an interactive seminar on diplomacy, or a workshop regarding technological innovation in Southern China. Delegates will leave with a contemporary understanding - and unique insights - into a wide range of issues, and lifelong friends to discuss them with!

What does the Summit schedule look like?

Whilst the exact Summit schedule is still being finalised, we can guarantee that it will be four days filled with professional growth, but also socialising and excitement!

Day One of the Summit will commence with an inspiring opening address, followed by an Amazing Race around the beautiful Guangzhou City - giving you an opportunity to get to know your fellow delegates and see the main attractions (as well as some hidden surprises).

After a full day of vibrant seminars and insightful learning, Day 2 will conclude with a Networking Night, allowing delegates and industry professionals to meet, mingle, and share stories and advice.

Always one of the highlights of the Summit, a spectacular Gala Dinner will be held on the evening of Day 3! Delegates, alongside Summit speakers and VIP guests, will be treated to delicious food and drink, as well as live entertainment.

Finally, before delegates bid their farewells and return to their respective homes, the Day 4 program allows for one last invigorating discussion, as well as time for some reflection.

本次峰会的最终日程安排还在紧锣密鼓地准备中，我们会保证这四天将不仅能提供专业发展机会，还将有许多令人兴奋的社交活动！

峰会的首日将在振奋人心的开幕致辞中拉开帷幕。紧接着，我们将在美丽的广州城市进行Amazing Race — “城市探索” 竞赛，给大家一个认识其他与会代表以及游览广州主要景点的机会（我们还会有神秘惊喜哦）！

在整整一天的精彩研讨会以及深刻的学习之后，峰会第二天将会以一个社交酒会结束，各位与会代表将在此活动中与各领袖的专家交流、分享彼此的经历及见解。

作为峰会一直以来的亮点之一，盛大的晚宴将在峰会的第三天晚上举行！与会代表，峰会嘉宾以及各位贵宾们都会在晚宴上享用美食和饮料，还有现场表演。

最后，在与会代表们告别并启程返回前，第四天的活动会让大家进行最后一次令人振奋的讨论，以及对本次峰会的思考和总结。
