Online Assessment?
Verbal reasoning
Kangaroo culling is a controversial issue in Australia, where the government hasimplemented culls to control populations. The issue is particularly emotive becauseof the kangaroo’s status as a national icon, with some detractors viewing the cullsas an attack on Australia’s identity.
Although indigenous to Australia, kangaroosare, in some areas, threatening the grassland ecosystem. Overgrazing causes soilerosion thus threatening the survival of certain rare species of lizard. Furthermore,in overpopulated areas, food scarcity is driving kangaroos to damage wheat crops.Protesters typically oppose the cull on grounds that it is inhumane.
Instead, theyfavour the relocation of kangaroos to suitable new habitats, or sterilizing theanimals in overpopulated areas. Sterilization, however, will not have an immediateeffect on the problems of limited resources and land degradation through grazing. Not only is transporting large numbers of kangaroos an expensive undertaking, critics believe it would potentially traumatize the relocated kangaroos andultimately threaten the new habitat.
Q1
The majority of animal rights activists oppose the Australian government’spolicy of kangaroo culls.
A. True
B. False
C. Cannot say
Q2
The foremost argument against culling kangaroos is that it threatensAustralian national identity.
A. True
B. False
C. Cannot say
Q3
Kangaroos present a threat to agriculture as well as to the ecosystem.
A. True
B. False
C. Cannot say
Q4
In overpopulated areas where food is scarce, kangaroos are preying on rarelizards.
A. True
B. False
C. Cannot say
Q5
Sterilizing kangaroos will not immediately alleviate problems of their over-grazing.
A. True
B. False
C. Cannot say
第18句,文中最后一段标黄的句子写道,“Sterilization, however, will not havean immediate effect on the problems of limited resources and land degradationthrough grazing”。
Cannot say?
Tips for “False”
如:no longer,not any more,not,by no means...
段落中原句描述程度/频率/范围时,用的限定词为:typical,odds,many,sometimes and unlikely...,而问题中的限定词发生了变化,如:special, impossible, all, usually, always, and impossible...
Tips for “Cannot say”
