Many companies promote their products through major sporting events. Is it a positive or negative development?

Generally, integrated advertising is the most effective way for any brand to live within a piece of content, which in turn boosts the sales figure of the brand. Regardless of what professional sports league the content may be, integrated advertisement allows advertisers to instill their brand within an audience’s experience. Advertisers know that they have a trapped audience to pitch their name and brand and that most of the fans are not only in a spending-mood, but appreciate the sponsors that take care of their favorite teams. This can be translated into higher sales and product recognition, bringing large benefits for companies that use these events to advertise.

Commercial sponsorship provides a legitimate source of revenue for a professional club or team. It helps to pay for the cost of the stadium, the teams and to keep the price of the tickets for each fan to a lower rate, creating a win-win situation for both stadium and advertiser. Without advertising, there would not be any games or at least anything that the average person could attend.
