An opportunity exists for dynamic and skilled professional to join the Finance team in the role of Group Accounting Manager.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Group Accounting Manager leads Year End, Half Year and Monthly Financial Close. The role provides sound technical accounting advice and support to the Finance team and the business. 

Also, you will be responsible for:

Technical accounting advice and updates

• Provide sound, well researched technical advice on accounting matters to the finance team (Melbourne Airport & Launceston Airport) and the business.

• Consult with external auditors on technical areas where appropriate.

• Maintain Group Accounting Policies and document any critical accounting judgements.

• Assist the Financial Controller with preparing board papers on Accounting and Tax updates to the Audit Committee on a quarterly basis.

• Attendance at Audit Committee to support Accounting and Tax updates as required.

• Lead the implementation of streamlined reporting for the Group Financial Statements.

Audit & Statutory Reporting 

• Lead the preparation of Year-End and Half year financial statements, ensuring disclosures are in line with best practice. 

• Actively manage the external audit team, leading the project managements and progress of the half year and year end audit 

Transactional Accounting and Month End 

• Actively manage the month end reporting and close calendar, working with the Financial Control team and Finance Business Partners to ensure the delivery of accurate month end results 

• Working with the Financial Controller and key stakeholders, drive the development of an improved month-end process 

• Build strong working relations ips with Business Partners to ensure consistently high quality accounting and finance practices 

  
  

General Reporting and controls 

• Work closely with the Financial Controller to ensure APAC meets its statutory and legal obligations in regards to accounting procedures 

• Manage the maintenance of financial records in compliance with accepted policies and procedures including monitoring transactions taking place within the business 

• Manage the chart of accounts 

• Working with the Finance Systems & Reporting manager, support the adequacy of system based controls in place and become a subject matter expert in finance systems. 

Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash flow Management 

• Support the budget & forecasting process, including managing the budget for cash flow, depreciation, tax, capitalized interest and finance control costs. 

• Support the Treasurer and Financial Controller in Forecasting and monitoring and reporting statutory cash flows on a monthly basis. 

Skills and Experience: 

• Trained in a big 4 or mid-tier Accounting Firm (minimum of 4 years’ experience, with Manager or Assistant Manager level experience) 

• Experience in a medium to large finance team in a public or private company (preferred but not essential) 

• Strong technical accounting knowledge gained through CA qualification and experience providing technical accounting advice 

• Extensive experience in preparing month-end and year-end results to meet statutory and business reporting requirements 

• Broad accounting systems/software knowledge 

• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
