Skills and experience:

We are seeking an IT Engineer to join our team in our Sydney office. This is a dynamic role with ample opportunity to develop and grow in a variety of technologies and industries.

Servian Managed Services provides full stack support to our clients and internal teams. We are seeking a Senior member to join us as we continue our expansion into new clients and technologies.

This role is both internal and external facing.

Based in the main office, the role will encompass:

• Day-to-day management of the Office IT infrastructure.

• User management and provisioning.

• Helpdesk duties for Managed Services clients.

• Assisting the Managed Services team with all client operations.

• Assisting with internal projects and development activities.

The ideal candidate will:

• be a dynamic individual with a passion for IT and a willingness to learn

• have a strong technical background

• be a self-starter

• be able to work within the constraints of process, whilst also thinking outside the box

• have strong communications skills have experience working within DevOpsSec and the ITIL framework.

Overall, the core skill sets required within the overall Managed Service environment are shown below. The successful candidate will have a broad coverage of these components and will have a drive to self-educate and grow their knowledge and experience.

1. A sound technical background, ideally with multiple technologies and platforms.

○ Windows and Linux administration 

○ OSX usage and administration

○ User management through LDAP and/or Active Directory.

2. Exposure to Big Data platforms, primarily the Hadoop ecosystem

○ Vanilla Apache hadoop

○Major distributions including Cloudera, MapR and Hortonworks.

3. Experience with cloud and virtual technologies

○ Virtualisation with VMWare or OpenStack

○ Cloud technology, including AWS, Google and Azure.

4. Experience with automation and containerisation

○ Docker containerisation / Kubernetes

○Chef, Puppet, Saltstack and/or Ansible automation frameworks

○ Dedicated automation and deployment scripts.

5. Experience with database administration (DBA) on platforms including Postgres, MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server

6. The ability to create and execute processes and procedures

7. An ability to organise and plan work for the team

8. Capability to assess and interpret client requests into viable technical solutions

9. Experience in managing stakeholder expectations

10. An ability to work under pressure and time constraints

11. A calm under pressure approach to their work.
