CHENGDU HOSTING WORLD POLICE AND FIRE GAMES
The 18th World Police and Fire Games (the Games) will be held in Chengdu from 8 to 18 August 2019.
The first World Police and Fire Games were held in San Jose, California in 1985 with almost 5,000 competitors. The Games are a biennial athletic event, open to active and retired law enforcement and fire service personnel throughout the world. The Games attract approximately 10,000 entrants which is slightly less than the Olympic Games but more than the Commonwealth Games.
The WPFG Chengdu committee advises that this year there will be 60 events and 165 Australian athletes have registered to come and compete in the Games.
A list of events, which we have been informed Australians will be participating in, can be found on the official website of the Australian Consulate-General Chengdu (click "Read more" below). If you have time, please go along and cheer on the Aussie competitors.
Let us welcome them and wish them great success!
