Events Manager, Industry Events


This position is responsible for managing operational rollout of Tourism Australia’s Events.

 

Central to this is the delivery of Tourism Australia’s Industry Events annual calendar as defined in AOPs globally in line with Tourism Australia’s Distribution 2020 report. The scope of each event is mutually agreed and driven by the set of objectives and KPI's.

 

The position will manage Tourism Australia’s industry events for Greater China.  In some cases, the position (and the team) will support other TA teams who are delivering other events. Consistently reviewing and analysing processes and systems, and inputting into the strategic direction of the event calendar is integral to this role.

 

Developing and maintaining a strong network of internal and external stakeholder relationships are critical to the seamless delivery of these events. 


With drive, motivation and energy, you will be responsible for delivering on the following:


People Management:

–Managing, motivating and developing staff

–Identifying resourcing requirements and making recommendations to ensure that the most appropriate team structure is in place to manage portfolio of events

 

Procurement / Budget Management:

–Manage project budgets, within TA budget parameters

–Develop content and documentation for event related tenders, quotes and bids ensuring  contracting within procurement guidelines

–Manage all event related supplier and agency agreements to ensure provision of necessary products and services for events within defined governance parameters

 

Event Management:

–Manage the end to end delivery of each event within the Events portfolio, ensuring all KPIs and objectives are achieved

–Develop and improve operational systems required to deliver successful and effective events

–Review existing events formats and implement improvements through interpreting research, improvements in process documentation and consultation with internal stakeholders.

–Enhancing event programs through delivering market relevant partnerships

–Ensure adherence of brand guidelines across all Industry Events

 

Stakeholder Management:

–Work with internal and external clients with regard to delivering new and or improved event components

–Work with TA Sydney to implement and support rollout of Global Events toolkit and best practise event guides  

–Ensuring that sponsor and partner benefits are delivered as contracted

–Building relationships with our key event suppliers and stakeholders to ensure successful event delivery


To deliver on the above, your resume will demonstrate the following:


–Tertiary qualifications in Tourism or Event Management

–Extensive knowledge of the Events and/or Tourism industry

–Understand and be able to describe the evolving nature of the tourism distribution landscape and its relevance to TA  industry events

–The latest technology for event management /delivery and customer engagement

–Well-developed English and Chinese language skills (reading/writing and oral/aural)

–Strong working knowledge of MS Office 


–Extensive project management skills

–Ability to lead a team

–Strong budget management skills

–Negotiation skills

–Adapt best business practises and apply new skills and knowledge to deliver a range of events

–Collaborate with internal stakeholders in delivery of events

–Bring events to life through a creative approach to delivery

–Manage risks associated with running trade events

–Take a flexible  and collaborative approach to the management of stakeholder issues regarding TA events


Compulsory – demonstrated experience in

–A minimum of 5 years Event Management experience in a business to business environment

–Managing diverse event projects to tight timeframes and budgets

–Implementing and enhancing policies and procedures

–Managing the disparate needs of internal and external stakeholders

–Proven record in budget management

 

Desired but not essential, experience in

–Experience in managing exhibitions and events in a business to business environment in both a tourism and non-tourism environment


PR Content Coordinator

As a PR Coordinator, you would work under general direction and supervision ot PR Manager, China as well as report your plans and implements PR content for both traditional and new media to PR Manager. 


With regard to your daily work, you would work with Marketing Communications Team, Greater China on all PR content aspects, e.g. Branding, advertorial, editorial, media relationship, media package proposal, integrated campaign, etc; together with Global PR team, you would regularly communicate with Sydney PR team to ensure activities are in line with corporate strategies; work with BE & Trade Team Greater China to assist in BE/trade servicing area as necessary; work with Finance, Procurement, & Corporate Service, Grater China & Sydney on all corporate services related areas, e.g. budget, business administration, corporate governance, contract & procurement, etc; and work with PR agency & other agencies to ensure the quality of delivery and brand consistency.


You will be responsible for delivering on the following:


–Develop good quality PR content to deepen Chinese consumer’s knowledge about holiday in Australia.

–Collating material, product and content for Internet publishing, and so to drive traffic to Australia.cn and Australia.com

–Input into social media strategy and ensure the quality execution of social media activities for China.

–Assist PR manager to implement PR strategy in the Greater China.

–Seek for good content opportunities in Greater China with help of PR/media agency.

–Assist PR manager to develop consumer activation programs online & offline.

–Assist digital team to ensure good content offered on australia.cn.

–Communicate the effectiveness and learnings from PR programs.

–Follow up and execute with STOs on partnership opportunities 

–Support the execution of media visits and leverage the coverages to promote Australia as most desirable destination for Chinese consumers.

–Support PR Manager to manage productive relationships with PR agency and other suppliers.

–Coordinating with PR, event vendors on various occasions.

–Providing market insights regarding PR contents , and share it efficiently with TA in-market and globally

–Assist BE & trade team when needed in terms of media relationships and content

–Support the PR programs of  TA China events – consumer, business development, BE.

–Assist Tourism Minister visits

–Other PR and Content related works required


To deliver on the above, your resume will demonstrate the following:


–Highly developed Chinese and English language skills (reading/writing and oral/aural)

–Working knowledge of MS Office

–Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or other related field

–Well developed understanding of Web 2.0 including knowledge of online content creation, optimisation, digital marketing techniques and social media.

–Working knowledge of the China media landscape


–Be a part of a professional team and perform in accordance with clear expectations

–Think creatively to implement innovative ideas and solutions, while still maintaining a systematic and logical approach to achieving outcomes

–Take a flexible approach to  all situations, changing behaviour, opinions or actions in light of new information, changing situations, unexpected obstacles or different goals

–Manage multiple projects at one time and work towards tight deadlines

–Be responsible for own areas of accountability and take ownership for own behaviour and decisions


Compulsory – demonstrated experience in

General marketing & PR (minimum 2 years)

–Preparing and delivering information effectively in a variety of media format for a diversity of audiences

–Proven administration skills with a high standard of organisational and planning skills

 

Desired, but not essential experience in

–Agency/supplier management

–Leveraging PR to achieve consumer awareness and brand preference

–Social Media professional experience

–General financial and budget management and business administration
