Senior Credit Manager - Quality & Review
Role Purpose
To lead a team of Credit Managers who conduct credit file hindsight reviews across Consumer Bank, providing feedback, coaching and guidance to authority holders to ensure that superior credit standards and quality credit outcomes are generated across the Consumer Bank portfolio
To lead continuous improvement initiatives and optimisation of hindsight processes and frameworks
To actively collaborate with peers and senior leadership to ensure optimal end to end process efficiency
To help ensure that superior credit standards and quality credit outcomes are generated across the Retail Credit Decisioning portfolio
To assist National Manager, Credit manage issues, actions and resolutions arising from credit file hindsight, stakeholder engagement, JUNO, Credit Risk Review and/or Group Assurance engagements
Major Accountabilities / Responsibilities
Lead, coach and develop a team of Credit Managers who conduct credit file hindsight reviews, assessing whether decisions are within approver’s authority, soundly based, include appropriate research / analysis / mitigation of risks and reflect the organisation’s current underwriting standards, policies and risk appetite for the segment
Provide a senior escalation point for complex transactions and disputed findings
Ensure hindsight controls are met across Consumer Bank, including minimum monthly credit file hindsight review samples
Ensure reports and insights are delivered to support monthly reporting. Support the presentation of reports and insights to stakeholders monthly
Ensure administration of CAL and system authorities are maintained and current
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key business partners and stakeholders
Provide feedback, coaching and guidance to own team and stakeholders on hindsight outcomes, emerging issues and “best practice” risk management techniques and practices to help improve the credit capabilities of authority holders
Identify and advise National Manager, Credit of development opportunities or leading credit practices that can be shared to enhance the performance of the broader team
Provide high quality advice in a timely manner, ensuring that issues and opportunities are communicated in a constructive manner and discuss ideas, suggestions or alternatives to identify solutions
Assist National Manager, Credit undertake targeted reviews of deteriorating portfolios, geographies or industries to ensure the risks are understood and have been correctly assessed and quantified
Identify and support development opportunities for team members
Create a healthy working environment whilst influencing and promoting a high-performance culture
Responsible for own ongoing development and achievement / maintenance of position accreditation requirements
Knowledge and Experience
Proven track record in leading, coaching and inspiring people to deliver exceptional customer outcomes
Typically 5+ years in credit risk and/or credit decisioning roles and/or relevant business experience (Consumer Bank)
Strong analytical and problem solving skills essential
Strong written and verbal communication skills essential
Multi brand exposure and systems knowledge preferred but not essential
Related tertiary qualification preferred
