Olympic badminton champion Lin Dan apologized onThursday for cheating on his wife, hours after theaffair was exposed online.

Other internet users quickly identified her as Zhao Yaqi, a model and actress. The post hadmore than 200,000 reposts and 40,000 comments on Weibo.

其他网友很快扒出这名女子名叫赵雅琪，是一名模特兼演员。目前这条微博已经被转发超过了20多万次，评论40000多条。

"As a man, I don't defend what I have done. My behavior has hurt my family. Here, I apologizeto my family. Sorry," Lin wrote on his Sina Weibo account in the early afternoon.

Lin's post received nearly 500,000 comments as of Thursday afternoon, some saying "I'm reallyso disappointed that my idol did such shameful thing” while some said "it doesn't change allthe glories he won for the country".

Recent research has identified that a receptor gene for vasopressin which is a chemicalreleased through sex could indicate whether or not a man is likely to cheat at some point in hislife. Nicknamed the 'cheater gene' it appears that men with a long version of the vasopressingene are likely to be faithful to their partners and families. Men with a shorter version of thegene are far more likely to cheat. Most people will have heard of the chemical Oxytocin. This isthe 'feel good' chemical that causes us to feel content. It is released by our bodies when we feelpleasurable touch. It appears that some people have a lower than average number of oxytocinreceptors in their body and are, therefore, less able to enjoy the strong bonds of trust, loveand affection that are common in long term relationships. It is not just vasopressin andoxytocin. Research related to the role of the DRD4 dopamine receptor gene in ADHD hasshown that those who have a mutation to that particular gene may be more at risk for bothADHD and cheating. Of course not everyone with ADHD will be a cheater but it appears that itmay be a risk factor that would lead someone to be tempted to cheat on their spouse. Allpeople have the DRD4 gene — it is related to a person's propensity to gamble or take risks(sexual or otherwise). A long DRD4 gene can lead to a 50% increase in the likelihood thatsomeone will cheat. Of course at the start of the relationship you could get your partner tounder go expensive genetic tests on their DRD4, Vasopressin and Oxytocin genes but there isa simpler way to check – if their parents or grandparents were cheaters then they may haveinherited the desire to roam!
