Digital Engagement Officer (North Asia), The University of Western Australia

This position


The Digital Engagement Officer (North Asia), under limited direction, will develop and implement digital communications and engagement strategies to support the University’s position in North Asia. Reporting to the Senior Regional Manager (China), with professional support provided by the Senior Social Media Officer (in UWA’s Digital and Creative Services), the role will focus on developing and implementing a digital engagement strategy, including a consistent and creative online presence to enhance the University’s reputation in China.

Key responsibilities


Coordinate an integrated approach to digital engagement with prospective students and key influencers in North Asia using knowledge of broader digital communications, campaigns and social media use in collaboration with other experts across the University

Manage the content of the UWA China website ensuring content is accurate and relevant to prospective students, parents and agents

Provide performance analytics reports on the UWA Chinese website

Apply Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and Social Media Optimisation (SMO) knowledge and effective social media content creation skills to generate and share content daily across China’s most popular and relevant platforms that builds meaningful connections and enhances the University's reputation

Provide advice and contribute to the development of policies and procedures in relation to the UWA Digital Strategy, as required

Monitor, evaluate and review performance of digital media using analytics to identify effective posts, trends and inform growth strategies

Develop highly effective social media campaign initiatives in conjunction with University staff/clients

Assist in the education and training of University staff in regard to digital engagement and social media principles, customer service and other best practice models

Analyse social media data and provide reporting to key stakeholders

Other duties as required




Selection Criteria


You will be a highly motivated individual, and demonstrate:

Relevant tertiary qualification (for example marketing, digital/social media marketing) or demonstrated equivalent competency

Highly-developed communication skills (including writing content for digital platforms and the ability to adapt content and style to different audiences

Fluency in Mandarin and English

Experience managing China-relevant social media accounts and campaigns; using social media management tools and the ability to source, create and curate content for digital platforms

Demonstrated ability to monitor, evaluate and review performance and effectiveness of digital platforms and social media using analytics to identify effective content, posts, trends

Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases and image editing software

Advanced customer service skills and the ability to recognise potential risks to brand reputation and to respond accordingly

Demonstrated ability to plan, organise, set priorities and meet deadlines

Ability to work productively as part of a team, as well as independently, and contribute to a high-performing, positive team culture
