Trade and Investment Queensland China is seeking a Business Development Manager tojoin our Shanghai team.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Maintain and strengthen Queensland’s position by developing strategic relations and contacts with government representatives, business leaders and industry allies.

  • Assist managing trade missions, Ministerial visits and allies including preparation of visit programs and accompanying official and business delegations.  You will be required to accompany business delegations to meetings in China as well as Queensland.

  • Support Queensland companies to pursue trade and investment outcomes by providing market intelligence, business leads, advice, introductions and screening of partners, participating in trade shows, business matching services, and other activities as required.

  • Work closely with and support Queensland businesses, suppliers, educational institutions, training providers and other organisations that are looking for buyers, partners, investors or allies.

  • Provide accurate and timely market intelligence and strategic advice to the Commissioner, Queensland government departments and companies about developments in the economy and business situation.

  • Work closely with the TIQ global network and Queensland stakeholders, including Brisbane and Queensland regional office staff, to co-ordinate joint trade promotional activities, business missions and client support.

  • Develop and implement trade and investment strategies and action plans, initiate, and manage the coordination and implementation of strategic projects.

 This role may require additional duties to becompleted as directed.

Key Capabilities

To determine your suitability for the role, you will be assessed on the following key capabilities that link to the “key responsibilities and accountabilities” for this role: 

  • Supports strategic direction through understanding of international trade and investment activities.

  • Demonstrates sound level of knowledge of key industry sectors (resources, agriculture, tourism, education, urban infrastructure and knowledge-based industries).

  • Highly developed communication, representation and interpersonal skills and an ability to articulate Queensland’s advantage as an investment destination are prerequisites for this role.

  • Demonstrates skills in the development and management of productive working relationships (includes: clients, customers, internal/external bodies, partners etc.) as well as proven ability to utilise a network to help achieve business results.

  • Research and analytical skills and proven problem-solving abilities.

While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, practical experience in international business and/orqualifications in international business or a related discipline will be well regarded.

Fluency in English language is essential and in Chinese (Mandarin) is highly desirable.
