The Australian Chambers of Commerce in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing are pleased to announce the award winners for the 2019 AustCham Westpac Australia-China Business Awards (ACBAs). The 2019 winners were announced at the prestigious Westpac AustCham Australia-China Business Awards Gala Dinner at the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong.
Hosted by the Australian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and sponsored by Westpac Banking Corporation, the evening presented 9 awards recognising businesses who demonstrated Australia-China business excellence.
With 400 guests in attendance, keynote speaker Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Honourable Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, GBM, GBS, gave an insightful address about Greater Bay Area opportunities and advancements in technology and innovation in the region. Mrs Lam also announced Australia will be the next destination to host the overseas promotion of the Greater Bay Area.
The evening also included a special dialogue with Maggie Zhou, Alibaba’s Managing Director for Australia and New Zealand and Jonathan Larsen, Ping An Group’s Chief Innovation Officer and Chairman and CEO of the Ping An Global Voyager Fund on innovation.
Other notable speakers and presenters included Yang Yirui, Deputy Commissioner, Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PRC in the HKSAR; Charge d’Affaires Gerald Thomson, Australian Embassy China; Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria; Michaela Browning, Australian Consul-General to HK & Macau;The Honourable Martin Pakula MP, Victorian Minister for Jobs, Innovation and Trade and Michael Correa, Westpac General Manager – Asia Pacific.
