Senior Accountant - Audit & Assurance

The Nexia Australia Audit and Assurance team delivers business improvements beyond statutory obligation and compliance. In identifying opportunities to enhance performance and profitability, we add value to our client's business – and that is what sets us apart.

Our Audit team is facing great success with our Sydney based clients, and we therefore have an exciting opportunity to join our growing firm as an Senior Auditor within our Audit & Assurance team.  

With an audit team of 30 staff and 4 partners, you will be allocated a selection of audit jobs across our mixed client portfolio - including ASX listed companies, unlisted public companies, large proprietary companies, subsidiaries of foreign corporations, public sector organisations and not-for-profit entities from a broad range of industry sectors. You will be primarily responsible for ensuring the audits you are allocated to are conducted are in line with the Nexia Audit Approach, proactively liaising with clients and providing constructive advice as required. As an Audit Senior you will also be given responsibility for assisting team managers with planning, supervising junior staff, and the finalisation of audit assignments.

Requirements

To be successful in this role you will require:

• a minimum of 3 years' external auditing experience within an accountancy firm;

• almost or recently completed your accountancy qualification (CA preferred);

• appropriate professional and technical skills required to demonstrate a good application of audit approach;

• good knowledge and understanding of Australian corporate reporting requirements (e.g. Accounting Standards, Corporations Act, UIG);

• good knowledge of Word, Excel, APS and audit systems (Caseware preferred);

• superior communication skills (written and oral);

• a high standard of appearance and approach in dealing with clients; and

• good time management skills and ability to maximise productivity of own time.

The hours of work are 8.30am to 5.00pm with a one hour lunch break. However, given the nature of the work, there will be occasions and times when extra hours or overtime will be required.
