佛经有云：“心净则国土净”，佛诞浴佛的意义在于净化我们每个人的身、口、意三业，感念佛恩。当我们手持净水沐浴太子像时，内心虔诚祝祷：“我今灌浴诸如来，净智庄严功德聚；五浊众生令离垢，愿证如来净法身”。就是让我们去除内心当中贪欲、瞋恨、愚痴的烦恼污垢，呈现出外在语言、行为、思想方面的善良清净所为。借浴佛功德，净化自心的烦恼尘垢，美化社会国土，转五浊为净土。

佛陀出世本怀是解救世间民众疾苦，让我们了脱生、老、病、死不息的轮回之苦，因此示现出八相成道。在佛经中亦称佛陀为“大医王”，就是说明了佛陀告知我们生死病患苦痛的因果，解脱生死轮回的修道法门。当下我们正处疫情期间，要了知佛陀出世本怀，以“八正道”做好自己，起到带头作用，自利利他，共渡难关。

The sutra quotes: “A pure land comes from a pure mind”. Bathing the Buddha on Wesak day signifies our vow to attain purity of body, speech, and mind. It is an expression of gratitude towards the Buddha for coming to this world. As we bathe the Buddha with the pure water, we recite the stanza:

“I now bathe all Thus Come Ones, 

Who are adorned with pure wisdom,

Who have amassed merit and virtue. 

May living beings of the five turbid realms be led from filth,

And together realize the pure Dharma body of the Thus Come One.”

We sincerely vow to eliminate internal greed, hatred, and ignorance within oneself, which will manifest externally into wholesome bodily, verbal, and mental actions.

The Buddha was born for one purpose, to seek a path to liberation from suffering and ignorance. Now, in the midst of an epidemic, we need to remind ourselves of Buddha’s spirit more than ever before. In accordance with “The Noble Eightfold Path”, we must take lead in promoting compassion, helping others, and overcome this difficult moment together. 

为纪念本师释迦牟尼佛圣诞，南澳竹林寺将于庚子年四月初八，西历二O二O年五月三日上午九点半举行浴佛法会，祈愿众生以戒定为香，忍辱为水，精进为力，智慧为镜，慈悲为药，以佛陀的智慧光明、慈悲仁爱，沐浴自己，化烦恼为自在。与世界人民一起战胜疫情。

The SA Zhu-Lin Buddhist Association will hold a “Wesak Day Bathing the Buddha Ceremony” on the 3rd May 2020, Sunday, 9.30 am. The Venerables shall perform the ritual on behalf of all sentient beings, and pray for Buddha’s compassion and wisdom to be bestowed on all.
