Actuarial Analyst graduate opportunity

Location: Sydney / Brisbane

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience, skills and qualifications:

Mandatory:

• Relevant degree in actuarial studies, statistics, engineering, mathematics, econometrics or related field.

• Advanced Excel skills, with exposure to (or the ability to quickly learn) other analytical tools and systems.

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse data, identify key issues, develop solutions and drive data-based decisions. 

• Strong problem-solving skills.

• Effective communication skills (both written and verbal).

• Results oriented, self−motivated and pro−active.

• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

• Time management skills – prioritisation of work without supervision.

• Adaptable and responsive to a continuously changing environment.

Desirable

Junior Accounts Payable Officer

Location: Sydney

About the role

We are seeking a self-motivated Junior Accounts Payable to join our dynamic Finance team in our Sydney office.

This is a full-time role reporting directly to the Financial Accountant. You will ensure correct and accurate processing and management of accounts payable, credit cards and petty cash reimbursements. Assist and support ongoing system reviews, process improvements and assist with general administration and accounting duties (as required).

You must have a good knowledge and understanding of financial and management accounting processes in the construction related industry.

Your Responsibilities (but not limited to)

• Processing and coding of invoices including data entry into MYOB, checking and verifying supplier details and invoices against purchase orders

• Scanning and uploading invoices into the system

• Dealing with accounts related enquiries via telephone and email

• Assist with the preparation of weekly payment process

• Prepare and update aged payables reports

• Reconcile supplier statements and accounts

• Assist Construction Managers to resolve payables issues

• Process petty cash claims, verifying claims and ensure proper approvals

• General ledger account reconciliations

• Assist in adhoc financial related projects as required

Experience & Skills

• Recent or near completion of tertiary education in accounting

• Basic understanding of MYOB

• Be highly motivated, keen and willingness to learn all facets of accounting processes

• Able to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines

• Have commitment to continuous processes and quality improvements

• Have basic to intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel

Position

Graduate Accountant will be on a 2 year rotation, learning and assisting in the areas of Group Finance and ANZ & APAC Commercial Accounting. The departments included and not limited to are; Financial Accounting, Taxation, Commercial Accounting, Group Reporting, Risk & Audit and Shared Services.

The role is responsible for actively learning and assisting in achieving Aristocrat’s objectives and strategies through ensuring financial performance, operational standards, policies and procedures, internal controls and administrative procedures are maintained at all times and are in compliance with accounting standards, ASX listing rules, Corporations Act and governance.

This is a stepping stone role for a graduate who is dedicated and keen to apply academic knowledge into practical work experience.

Key Performance Measurements

What will I be doing?

Accounting & Reporting:

• Assist to complete all month-end tasks in accordance with financial reporting deadlines in an accurate & timely manner. This includes preparation and posting of journals

• Assist in the review of P & L and balance sheet account monthly movement for reasonableness and accuracy thus clearing all miscoding before month end close

• Prepare intercompany recharges in order to ensure correct cross charging

• Timely completion of reconciliations including advising manager of material outstanding issues

• Ensure month end reporting deadlines are observed and achieved

• Maintain AR reconciliations and follow up on overdue collections

• Liaise and follow up with AR/AP on any payments/receivable issues

External Compliance

• Provide assistance during external auditand tax reporting

• Complete survey and statistical data queries as required by local authorities

Requirements

• Tertiary qualification in a finance related discipline

• Well adverse in Excel

• Sound knowledge of accounting systems

• This position may require registration with the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB) and/or other gaming jurisdictions in which we operate.
