 IT Web Developer 


Report to: ICT Manager

Locaton: Lauriston Girls’ School Armadale Campus



Position

The IT Web Developer will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of maintaining ICT facilities and resources. The IT Web Developer will demonstrate initiative and diligence in fulfilling this role. Tasks and responsibilities may be changed given new school initiatives and projects, therefore the IT Developer will have the ability to work autonomously and also within a team to achieve stated deadlines. The IT Web Developer is expected to maintain professional working relationships with all members of the School community. The IT Web Developer is part of a team responsible for the installation, maintenance and support of the School’s client based IT infrastructure. This infrastructure comprises desktop and notebook computers, productivity and educational software and printing services.

 Key Selection Criteria 

Qualifications and education
• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent relevant experience in the field


Abilities, aptitudes and skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to negotiate desired outcomes
• Time and work management skills that ensure workload is managed and deadlines met according to agreed priorities
• Desire to provide responsive customer service
• Ability To research and understand new ICT technologies and apply these to actual school
situations
• Ability to develop well-structured ICT practices and a willingness to support these and promote the support of these amongst others
• Ability to develop and maintain administrative practices of the ICT team


Experience
• Experience in one or more ICT related activities, including wide or local area network administration, desktop hardware or software support, database administration
• Experience with a broad ICT and related equipment


Knowledge
• Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Operations applications
• Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Windows 7 and 8
• Knowledge of hardware, software and policies to ensure the security and access control of information, hardware and software and the ability to apply this knowledge to provide effictive solutions



 Key Responsibilities & Major Tasks 

1. Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of ICT infrastructure in order to support the needs of the School’s curriculum and administration by:
• Taking an active role in the web development of Lauriston’s internal and external web solutions
• Taking an active role in exploring, developing and implementing in- house digital signage needs drawing on unique school and sub school requirements
• Working in a collegial manner with members of staff to gather information, project content and other necessary information to match projects needs
• Actively seeking opportunities to collaborate with staff to enhance the learning experience for students
• Where suitable, working with students to help develop ideas and projects connected to software development such as gaming and HTML language
• Investigating and applying solutions to support teaching and learning at Lauriston
• Performing basic checks of networked PCs and other equipment, and following acceptance
testing procedures for new ICT equipment
• Performing maintenance tasks for user accounts
• Assisting with updating records of installed hardware and software, and maintaining a software library and store original copies of installed applications.


2. Provide support to ICT users to an agreed standard by:
• Assisting with the maintenance and administration of the Job Request system and processes
• Providing Level 1 customer support to users, either by telephone, in person or email, and ensuring that the user’s request is understood, properly documented and prioritised, and resolved  • Conducting investigations and accurately recording actions taken, diagnostic information,

outcomes and time taken in the support log
• Responding to assigned job requests in a timely fashion and communicating with other team
members, striving to optimise the balance between customer needs and capacity of the ICT
team and ICT infrastructure
• Ensuring that all requests are completed and the action taken is communicated to the customer
• Helping to manage user expectations in relation to support service standards
• Assisting in the development of relevant procedures and help sheets, and instructing all ICT users in appropriate practice
• Communicating effectively with internal clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions
• Continually seek opportunities to increase internal client satisfaction and deepen customer
relationships


3. Provide support for the Learning Management System by:
• Providing support to the Vice Principal - Head of Senior School, Lead Teacher -Fabrication/STEAM Technologies, Lead Teacher – Digital Technologies, Director of Curriculum (Junior School) and e-Learning teacher (Junior School) with the maintenance and administration of the Learning Management database
• Providing support to users in the efficient use of the Learning Management System
• Testing of new features and enhancements to the Learning Management System
• Assisting with the backup and disaster recovery plans for the Learning Management System


4. Assist the effective operation of the ICT Department by:
• Contributing to the preparation and review of weekly, monthly and annual ICT maintenance
programs
• Assisting with maintenance of records of assets and software licenses, including annual audit of
facilities
• Assisting with improvements to procedures and practices
• Attending regular meetings to monitor workload, plan activities and solve issues relating to the
ICT function of the School
• Contributing to the maintenance of team communication
• Undertaking any other tasks or responsibilities consistent with the role of Senior IT technician.
• Contribute to a safe and healthy workplace by:
• Following Occupational Health and Safety instructions and policies
• Reporting accidents and hazards
• Attending professional development and training required by the School, and actively seek
opportunities to increase knowledge, experience and skills held.

Child Protection Training
Lauriston Girls’ School has developed a Child Protection Training program that has been designed to assist staff with the knowledge and skills required to respond appropriately to issues of child protection. Your ongoing employment is subject to you completing the Lauriston Girls’ School Child Protection training program.
