Graduate Advisor


 

The Graduate Advisor has responsibility for providing support to the Corporate Advisory team, and performing client related tasks with the objective of enhancing the “client experience”.


Principal   Accountabilities

The Graduate Advisor is required to undertake the activities outlined in the table following under each KPI. They are required to perform client related tasks under direct supervision of the Corporate Advisory Manager and Partner.    


What you will do:

  • Aware of firm wide strategy

  • Aware of all firm policies

  • Budgeted   productivity and recovery calculations;

  • Management of WIP balances within your client list, and ensure fees are raised as and when   required;

  • Achievement of day   to day tasks with utmost efficiency and accuracy.


    Apply principles of   accounting and taxation to:

  •  Client related compliance services, including but not limited to preparation of financial   statements;

  • Preparation of taxation schedules for all relevant taxes etc;

  • Assistance with the preparation of monthly management reports;

  • Assistance with the preparation of corporate transactions on an adhoc basis;

  • Other general business and consulting services for clients; and

  • Research


    Assist with management and administration of matters relating to your client list:

  • Meeting and   exceeding clients’ expectations;

  • Anticipating client needs and searching for ways to improve client service;

  • Ensuring that any client-related task delegated to you is planned and discussed with the   client;

  • Ensuring you have clarity and understanding in relation to tasks delegated to you and seeking further guidance if not clear;

  • Ensuring that client deadlines are met and timelines are communicated with the client and Manager;

  • Maintaining vigilance in respect to seeking client approval on scope and costs before commencing a brief;

  • Actively communicating with the Manager should you find that costs are approaching the   budget for a client-brief;

  • Strictly adhering to the firm’s client confidentiality policies

  • Report to Partner immediately in relation to any client complaints.

  

  • Actively participate in performance and appraisal system

  • Team participation/relationships

  • Attend training as required

  • Attend Drinks/Presentation nights and social events

  • Support to internal clients

  • Maintain highest standard of professional behaviour and presentation;

  • Commitment to the highest standards of honesty and integrity, quality and service;

  • Proactive, resourceful, and client oriented;

  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule;

  • Possess a “Can-Do” attitude;

  • Take initiative to help others


  • Ability to work independently and to make judgements in line with agreed levels of authority;

  • Good level of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, with ability to report verbally and in writing, and developing the ability to communicate and negotiate at all levels;

  • Basic level of problem solving skills and the ability to apply them to analysing and resolving problems in respect to client services and internal firm matters;

  • Ability to be instructed, deliver upon instruction and communicate when unclear;

  • Effective prioritisation of client work above overhead work wherever possible to ensure workflow efficiency, client satisfaction and adherence to deadlines;

  • Utilise and apply Nexia workpapers and other Nexia standards in fulfilment of your duties and responsibilities. 

  • Maintain professional networks established at university and through studies / student associations

  • Always speaks positively of the firm to colleagues, clients, peers etc. 


Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

  • Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting, Finance or similar CA   accredited tertiary qualification

  • Graduate – nil

  • Basic knowledge of and experience with accounting principles and practices, and other related   matters including relevant legislative requirements for companies, trusts   etc;

  • Basic knowledge of business structures and how they function

  • Basic knowledge of computerised accounting systems.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

  • Excellent   communication skills and presentation

  • Collaborate and contribute to a positive organisational and team culture

  • Work as part of a team and also autonomously when needed

  • Understand and   comply with all firm policies

  • Deal in a friendly, courteous manner with management, staff and clients at all times

  • Develop open and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Appreciation of risk frameworks for CAANZ (Professional Standards)
