英语常见on的搭配词组！！

carry on (vi.)=坚持下去:

I can't carry on the small business because of rising costs.

count on /upon —=依靠,指望:

You can always count on me.

hand down /on —=把……传下去:

This custom has been handed down /on since the 16th century.
hang on—(vi.)
1) 抓紧不放，坚持:
I think if you hang on you'll succeed.
2) 取决于，有赖于: My future hangs on their decision.

keep on —继续，反复地做:

Don't keep on teasing your younger brother.

live on

1 ) 以…为生；以…为食:
We were surprised to learn that a sick man could live on chicken soup for a week.
2) 留在记忆中:
3) Long after she was dead, her name lived on because of her good deeds.

look down on / upon —轻视:

Some boys look down on little girls and refuse to play with them.
His views are looked down on by his fellow students.

look on (vi.) =观看；旁观:

Two men were fighting. The rest were looking on.

pass ...on ... (vi.) = 传授，传递:

Please pass on the secret word "water" to the next person.

put ...on...

1) 穿上，戴上:
He put on his glasses and then took the newspaper from my hand.
2) 上演:
The students usually put on a play at the end of the year.
3) 增加(体重等):
If you put on another pound, you won't be able to wear this dress.

rest on — 依据，信任:

I have been told that much of the knowledge does not rest on reasoning or on experiment, but on authority.
